SSIMED Golf Tournament Raises Over $13,000 to Benefit CCMC

Windsor, CT, July 21, 2005 - SSIMED's first annual charity golf event to benefit Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC) held on July 21 was a roaring success, with 128 golfers, 23 sponsors, and 20 volunteers.

TJ Burnett, coordinator of the tournament from SSIMED, was proud to announce that with the support of all the sponsors, over $13,000 was raised for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

"I am pleased to thank SSIMED for their generosity in supporting CCMC and congratulate them on the remarkable success of their first tournament.  We look forward to future participation," said Paul H. Dworkin, MD, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

"Connecticut Children's Medical Center is honored to be the recipient of the generosity of SSIMED, the players and sponsors who raised $13,000 for CCMC. This is an outstanding accomplishment and will help the children's medical center in our mission to make kids better," said Eva Wickwire, Director, Donor Development, Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation.

The day started at 11 am when our golfers arrived for registration and lunch. Armed with their goodie bag containing a golf shirt, mouse pad, can holder, and more, they set off to practice. After hitting some balls on the practice green and driving range, the group started off at 12:30 with a shotgun start.

A few hours later, Libbie Noel from ProHealth Physicians hit a hole-in-one on the fourth hole winning the "Closest to the Pin" contest. Rich Guerriere, from Radiology Associates, P.C., was the "Longest Drive" winner with his clear shot on hole 18.

At the end of the evening, everyone raced back to the clubhouse to enjoy dinner and to find out the day's winners. In addition to the golf tournament winners, there were over 40 raffle prizes given out.

The winners for the best round were Neil Nordstrom, Chris Luconelle, Sam Bennett, and Mike Nordstrom from Pediatric Services of Springfield with a 59. The best mixed round went to Mary DeRenzy, Brien Anderson, Jerry Leger, Hubert DeRenzy from DeRenzy Document Solutions with a 59.
